Generosity Performance

 The prompt for this project was to: "Create a prop that will aid you in performing a 5-7 minute performance exploring the idea of generosity. "


I explored a lot of different ideas, but I wanted to hone in on something that could bring in the deep interests of the world of entertainment in each individual in the class. 


To start, I sent out a bulk email to each individual in the class, asking what their favorite movie and favorite song was. After gathering that info, I downloaded a LOT of clips from YouTube from each movie I was provided, and each song.


I then started to edit each clip, in time to the song provided, creating an "edit." For some films, I kept the dialogue audio, where I used an AI Vocal Separator, so I could get clean vocals/dialogue and strip it from the original score of the movie. I layered the clips and songs in Premiere Pro, and put all the edits one after another, and uploaded on YouTube.

I then brought in movie popcorn and popped it for the class, so they could enjoy it while watching all the edited films. It was really fun to watch the reactions of each individual when their FAVORITE movie came on with their favorite song playing in the background!


I really enjoyed this project, and can't wait to dive into more video projects.

today i was challenged with the prompt to recreate a classmate's favorite childhood object. my classmate, julia, told me all about her favorite stuffed animal bear, and i had to reconstruct it. i ended up breaking apart a trader joes bag, and cutting it in the shape of a bear. i filled it with bubble wrap, stapled it together, and glued on facial/body features. then, mr. bear was created! this project was quite fun, as i played with materials i see on an every day basis. i spend a lot of time in the digital realm, so it's refreshing to get dirty and do hands-on things :)

drawing challenges

 for this project, i was supposed to draw on a series on multiple different objects in unique ways. for my first drawing, i got a plate from the dining hall, and smashed it to pieces. i then painted a wooden panel in the style of a tablecloth, and reassembled the plate on top of it. i superglued the pieces in place, but leaving little spaces between them, showing how broken it was. i then shoved a fork and knife into the board between the middle plate pieces, looking as if the plate broke from brute force of cutting too hard. the symbolism here is around the idea of eating disorders, either eating too much or too little. i wanted to grasp the simplistic aspect of anger at food through an abstract piece. my second drawing was more of an experience. i walked outside, and closed my eyes. i would turn 90 degrees to the right, and i would pick up the first object that i saw when i opened my eyes. i did that a few times, and traced each object on a piece of cardboard, rotating the object...

Intro Video Project: Perspective Loop

 The prompt of this project was to create a 30-45 second long video with the prompt:  "End where you begin – Turn a perspective inside out." I had a few initial ideas, but I quickly was inspired by quick edits that I've seen on tiktok. I was thinking of writing a full narrative story to it, but realized that I was thinking too hard about it. Just. Keep. It. Simple. I went into Adams 216 (a larger classroom at Westmont College), and set up my phone to record myself sitting, as if I were observing class. I took three angles of it, and then edited it all in Premiere Pro, emphasizing the usage of masking.  Here is the LINK of the video. Enjoy!
